What is positive youth development?
Positive youth development (PYD) is the efforts taken in building assests for and with young people (Pitman, 2000).

How does ARCCADE promote positive youth development?





Positive Youth Development Programs

  1. Introducing and adapting PYD programs (eg. in schools - Mentoring Malaysia).
  2. Recruting, training, and developing:
    • Positive People
    • Positive Places
    • Positive Opportunities
  3. Providing technical assistance to ensure sustainability and fidelity.

Research in Prevention Science

  1. Assesment of environmental risks and protective factors.
  2. Monitoring youth indicators of psychological:
    • Well-being → competencies, connections, confidence,character, contributions, caring.
    • Distress → depression, anxiety, stress, drug use, delinquency, bullying, gangsterism.
  3. Evaluating youth program effectiveness.
