Wildlife Project
The Wildlife Project (a.k.a. “WildTeens”) is one of the two spin off from Mentoring Malaysia.
In WildTeens, our Youth Mentors journey together with teens who are educated about flora & fauna. They learn about climate change, effects of illegal logging and dangerous chemicals in the environment. They also learn about the endangered species of plants and animals from around the world, and especially in Malaysia.
As they begin to have a deeper understanding and appreciation of nature they will be given the opportunity to translate all of that knowledge into something tangible. This means that they get to brainstorm and think of conservation ideas that they can do, within their means and surrounding resources. Activities range from helping zoo staff assist in wildlife care to setting up a garden in the school compound. This, of course, is not without the support of the school authorities and technical advice from our partners.
Through this, we address the area of contribution to community while building competence and confidence.
